1987-1993 Mustangs for sale

The 1987 Mustang, although still very much a fox bodied car, would emerge with the first significant facelift of that generation. While not a major design overhaul, the changes resulted in a smoother, more polished look. The nose, rear side windows and tail lights were flushed up, giving both a more modern look and better wind tunnel performance.

Horsepower continued to climb as the Mustang and Camaro battled for the affection of the increasingly performance hungry public. The venerable 5.0L V8 increased to 225 horsepower in 1987, which was a great performer in the lightweight, short wheelbase fox bodied Mustang.

1993 was the final year of the 3rd generation Mustang, but at the same time the beginning of some very important changes at Ford. The SVT (Special Vehicle Team) was created and it in turn created the very special Mustang Cobra. Not just a bunch of stickers like the Cobra of the 70's, this new Mustang package was all about performance. Power increased to 235 hp mated to an upgraded Borg Warner T5 5 speed manual. Four wheel disc brakes and improved handling rounded off this last of the generation Mustang.
