1999-2004 Mustang Coupe

The 1999 was the 35th anniversary of the Mustang and for its anniversary it got a brand new look. The Mustang coupe was still based on the Fox platform but they received a more edgy look then previous models. The grille corral reappeared for the first time since 1973. To top this package off both V-6 and GT Mustangs sported "35th Anniversary" fender badges. In 2000 no changes were made for the new millennium other then the 35th anniversary badge being removed.

Many changes happened to the 2001 model as all Mustangs got the 2000 Cobra R's smoked headlamps and the spoiler was changed to a more wing-like style. All GT’s would be equipped with the raised hood scoop and side scoops used on 35th Anniversary Limited Edition Mustang Coupes in 1999 as well as the optional retro Torque Thrust-inspired wheels. 2001 also saw the limited edition Bullit Mustang inspired by the movie of the same name staring Steve McQueen. During 2003 Ford beefed up the Mustang line by supercharging the Cobra and finally reviving the Mach 1. Some color changes occurred as well as Dark Shadow Grey and Redfire replaced Mineral Grey and Laser Tint Red. In June of 2003 Ford celebrated its 100th anniversary. It made Mustang GT’s to commemorate the event. These 100th Anniversary models only came in black, as a nod to the original Model A which spawned the famous saying, "you can have any color you want as long as it's black."
